A quiet night under canvas. A cup of coffee at sunrise. A staycation that actually helps you rest.
The First Night on the Land
The first time we slept in one of the tents, there was no furniture.
No cozy bed. No bedside lanterns. Just a wide plank floor, four walls of canvas, and a whole lot of fresh air.
It was just before we officially opened. The kids were three and five, and they were beside themselves with excitement to go “camping.”
We dragged blankets down from the house, piled them into a nest on the floor, and all curled up together. It wasn’t glamorous. It wasn’t particularly comfortable. But it was the first night we slept out on the land, and something shifted.
We woke up stiff and smiling.
The kids’ hair smelled like trees.
The light poured in through the tent flap like honey.
That was the beginning.
Since then, I’ve had the luxury of waking up out here in a real bed. A queen-sized, soft-linen, actually-restful kind of bed. And every time I do, I remember that first night—because the feeling hasn’t changed, even if the mattress has.
This Place Teaches You How to Slow Down
It happens somewhere between the moment you zip the tent shut behind you and the moment you settle into stillness.
You start to hear things again—the crackle of your own campfire, the wind in the trees, an owl calling from deep in the woods.
You start to see each other again too.
We’ve watched it happen over and over—guests with their feet up, mugs in hand, talking like there’s nowhere else to be. Because there isn’t. That’s the magic of it.
It’s not about escaping to somewhere far.
It’s about landing somewhere close, and finally feeling at home.
Coffee, Quiet, and the Sound of Nature Waking Up
In the mornings, I make coffee and sit on the front deck.
There’s a rhythm to it. The birds start before the sun gets high. The trees stretch. The air warms.
And I watch nature wake up, one soft breath at a time.
There’s nothing to rush toward.
There’s just this.
You don’t have to go far to find peace.
Sometimes the reset you’ve been craving is just down the road—quiet, waiting, and ready when you are.
